Q. With the new year starting, what can I do to live happier and healthier

A. Here's are five tips that can help.

  1. COMMITMENT: Commit to a "LIFE STYLE" change. Improve your quality of life, longevity and health. Invest in yourself, it may cost you time and money. We spend time and money to get "OUT OF SHAPE", now you need to reverse it. Spend your time and money on a fitness program, gym membership, quality foods, and even hire a personal trainer.
  2. ATTITUDE: Attitude controls everything! Be positive and positive things will happen. Start today and believe in yourself!
  3. ACCOUNTABILITY: We are human. Take one day at a time and make each day better than the previous one. Be accountable to yourself, family, and friends.
  4. SUPPORT: Develop a support system. Surround yourself with people who believe you can! If you need help, ASK! Get a partner for workouts. If you need a personal trainer, do it!
  5. SET GOALS: Start with short term, realistic goals, and then build on them. Set yourself up for success! A goal may be as simple as cutting out soda, eating brown rice, walking more, or taking in less fast food.
